What is a Bento Lab ‘second’?
A Bento Lab ‘second’ is a brand-new device that works perfectly, but has plastic parts with cosmetic imperfections. These flaws don’t affect the lab’s performance or reliability, so you still get all the features of Bento Lab at a reduced price. Plus, by choosing a ‘second,’ you’re supporting sustainability by helping us reduce waste.
We build every Bento Lab ‘second’ with the same care and components as our standard units. The only difference is that we use plastic mouldings with ‘cosmetic imperfections.’ These imperfections might be on the main case, gel box, or screen cover. Rest assured, the functionality meet the same high standard we bring to all Bento Lab units.
What is an imperfection?
Check out the photos provided to see examples of typical imperfections. We categorise imperfections into 4 types: scratches, marks, dents or impurities.
Unfortunately we don’t have the capacity to photograph and advertise each individual unit. We have included examples of a range of different imperfections we would allow for the ‘second’ classification.
Please keep in mind that these are photos. While we’ve done our best to capture these flaws accurately, they may appear differently in person.

Ask us
How noticeable are the imperfections?
Imperfections are purely cosmetic, such as small scratches or discolourations. We think the cosmetic flaws are minor, and we use the Bento Lab seconds ourselves.
Will the imperfections affect the product’s performance?
Absolutely not. The functionality and performance of Bento Lab is not affected.
